playing with Sleepoverz First show with Sleepoverz! I met them at the Soggy Bottom metal jams. They play alternative rock/metal covers and originals.
3 songs were played for the first time: Outnumbered, Quarter and Respect. The setlist is available on the shows page.
I started rehearsing the first two while in Finland. Outnumbered is rather technical, and it's in drop A#. Quarter on the other hand is super easy to play, as it's "just" power chords.
Friday the 13th is considered unlucky.. Well. I barely had time to soundcheck, so I ended up using Sleepoverz's in-ear monitors instead of a stage monitor. I honestly don't know what the "sound engineer" did. The backing track was too loud, there was way too much bass and I could barely hear the guitar. The in-ears kept falling off.. It was a struggle for more than half of the set. Before starting to play When You Die (11th song..) I removed them entirely and turned one of the speakers towards me. Instantly way better..
I was genuinely pissed at that point. The second to last song was Respect. I gave Clem from Sleepoverz the guitar, and I let everything out. Maybe the only time it felt truly cathartic. This was the first time I played a song with someone else!

Even though I had been working on the 4 songs from Waste during the past couple of months, I decided to take my time and release only one EP instead of rushing two.
I really wanted the Zøne show to be a release party, so as to advertise Luckies as the first "real" release instead of a demo. I didn't have much time but managed to make the deadline. I started mixing around mid-February, and uploaded the final mixes on March 17th. The EP released on the 21st at midnight.
Previously, I had been using Routenote to upload songs because it was free. I think it's worth it to pay for Distrokid to have control, royalties and faster (and more trustable) upload delays.
ConfliktArts offered relatively cheap but good quality CDs, however they had 3 weeks of production time.. So I decided to go with DIY burned CDs. I'm super satisfied with the result, and I think they fit the vibe perfectly.
henry rollins says in this interview that he never listens again, same i did for luckies, just move on after you put it out la Zøne 
La Zøne is a place in Saint-Étienne that opened in December 2024. It is located right next to la Gueule Noire, another punk venue.
They have a big stage downstairs, with a studio and a rehearsal room upstairs. I had already attended a few concerts there.
I was able to do a little residency there a week before playing the show. Over 4 hours, I got to rehearse the set twice, practicing movements on a bigger stage.
Greg from la Zøne helped me mix the backing tracks on real venue speakers. They're very different from headphones or even studio monitors, so it was honestly such a great opportunity to test it in real conditions.
Luckies release party! I played with Cafard Moisi, Penser Saboter and Gagner de l'Argent.
I had borrowed one GoPro from the lab (pros of studying computer science) to record the set. The result was a bit underexposed, but still usable as a complete live session.
Pretty cool that I used to want to open with Could It Be, and now I'm doing it. It used to be too high for an opener, so transposing it definitely helped.
I introduced a little variation in the Fata Morgana riff, instead of playing the same pattern every time. That's why I think it's good to let songs live and mature for a while before recording them, you always end up finding new interesting ideas.
We played Respect together with Clem again. Tons of fun, but honestly really intense. I felt a weird nausea feeling around my stomach.
It was my first time seeing Cafard Moisi live. They have an insane stage presence, I loved discovering their performance. Penser Saboter played last, and he made people go on stage as he was playing. It's really mesmerizing to see live drums being played up close. Strong shoutout to both of them for being so sick and cool.
Geneva gig 
First time playing in Switzerland!!
I arrived around 1 PM, so I still had 3-4 hours to explore the city. While the backpack + guitar case setup works wonders for traveling, it really is a pain when it comes to walking long distances. I had to take multiple breaks, and even still I feel like it's really bad for my back.
I arrived a little early to the place. Some fire situation blablabla {...}. He showed me the big stage, then we went to a smaller one
I didn't have much time to warm up. I went a little too far from the pedals, and the guitar cable disconnected during Deadlock.. Whoops.
I slept over at a local's who volunteered to host me. They had a big old black dog, whom we walked through Geneva on the next day. I'm super grateful for everything they did for me

PART: more on songwriting ig hardest things when making a song: 1. starting 2. actually making one or two songs out of ideas. usually there's too many and it's hard to find coherence fuck standards, oh i cant put a metal riff next to this because i would prefer if the whole song sounded JUST LIKE THAT. well fuck it some people are into that first show in Lyon 
First show in Lyon! Invited by Rebel Girl
just started making the wristbands before the gigFirst time using the weird ethereal intro for Could It Be.
I got hit in the teeth by the mic, then during When You Die someone kicked it away by mistake. I sang Wannabe's chorus in spanish because the other band, Umbra, came from Barcelona. I always thought the chord progression had a spanish vibe.
Clem couldn't make it for Respect this time. However, I thought about someone else.. I sent him the tabs the day before. And.. He learned it. He told me he went to sleep at 3, then couldn't fall asleep, so he just practiced the song again at 5 AM. He's a real king.
This time, singing it was really tough. I almost puked and I felt a weird sensation in my head, as if I was about to lose consciousness.. The venue was tight and hot, and I hadn't eaten much before.
Playing in Lyon was fun, having to come back for classes at 9 the next day with 4 hours of sleep.. A bit less.
EAT BEFORE THE SHOW thoughts The Geneva gig proved that I can effectively tour with this setup. Here's the whole inventory if anyone's interested:
· Backpack: · laptop + laptop charger · audio interface (UAD Volt 2) + 2 XLR-jack cables · 3-4 pedals (Knuckles, Metalzone, Noisegate, Klon) + small cables · merch box (CDs, patches, stickers..) · a few clothes + gig clothes · small kit with toothbrush · Guitar case: · guitar (duh) + 2 cables · picks + capo · backdrop · Guitar case n°2 for an extra guitar (in case the first one blows up)
The only cons lie in the total weight of the setup. I should invest in a hiking backpack. My lower back was also getting hurt by the edges of the sound card or pedals. I found putting clothes at the bottom helps to prevent that.
